A Brief Introduction to the Philippines.

The Philippine archipelago consists of 7,107 islands which are grouped into three major regions, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The islands are part of The Pacific Ring of Fire and are volcanic in origin. Manila (Luzon) is the capital of The Philippines with a international airport and busy sea port. Mindanao together with Sula forms the 2nd largest island group (Mindanao) of the country's main islands with Davao City being the largest city. Cebu in the Visayas is known as The Queen City of The South and is world famous for it's Sinulog Festival and is a major player in the economics and culture of the Philippines. Cebu City also has it's own international airport and sea port. Our website takes you to the tourist regions of the Philippines where the impressions will last you a lifetime.

PDOT London Offered Free Shuttle Service to VIPs during the Royal Wedding.

To celebrate the Royal Wedding, the Philippines Department of Tourism London ran a free shuttle service using the Philippine Taxis for VIP guests departing from Buckingham Palace in the afternoon. As soon as roads to opened up, the iconic London Taxis carrying the Philippines superside adverts rushed to pick-up guests to their chosen destination. As one of the biggest events of the century, the Royal Wedding was watched by an estimated 2 billion people. It was excellent venue to promote the Philippines profile to a global audience. Initiated in 2005, by Assistant Secretary Chicoy Enerio, the Philippine Taxis in London has been one of the most successful institutional projects of PDOT London. The strong visual presence of the 50 iconic taxis continues to be a highly effective medium to boost awareness of the Philippines tourism and generate demand for holiday packages to the country.

Diving in the Philippines.

The Philippines is situated in the Pacific Ocean and is the second largest archipelago in the world with 7,107 tropical islands and one of the greatest treasures of Southeast Asia. First and foremost, the Philippines is a place of natural wonders, a string of coral-fringed islands strewn across a vast expanse of the western Pacific. Below sea level, the Philippines boasts some of the world’s best diving and snorkelling, including wreck diving around Coron and swimming with the whale sharks off Donsol. Above sea level, it has a fantastic landscape with wonders enough to stagger even the most jaded traveller: the Chocolate Hills of Bohol, Banaue & the Rice Terraces, fascinating reminders of the islands’ history in places such as Samar & Leyte and Vigan, and palm-fringed, white sand beaches of the laidback Sipalay or flat-out party town Boracay. There is something for everyone - from a novice to the expert. The islands lie to the east of Vietnam, with The South China Sea to the west and The Philippines Sea to the east. The capital, Manila, is 2,400 kms northeast of Singapore. With such a multitude of islands, many extremely small, it is easiest to categorise them them into three main sections - Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao. The climate is tropical, maritime with average temperatures of 27 degrees C. With a total land area of 300,000 sq kms, The Philippines has 36,300 kms of coastline with 40,000 sq kms of coral reef supporting over 500 different types of coral with more than 2,400 types of fish and many interesting wrecks.
